Song of the Week* Natasha Bedingfield: These Words

So, I don't get out much to see many concerts. I wish I did because every time I go I end up having a great time. Last week I was able to see Natasha Bedingfield in concert... I now ADORE her.  My friends and I were all so pleasantly surprised with her concert. Not to say I had low expectations, but I just didn't anticipate how entertaining her concert would be.  I had no idea how incredible her range was. She was whimsical and her voice was wispy, and then she was strong and her  voice was powerful. I just thought I would share that I now ADORE Natasha. I mean who ever can make the song Purple Rain sound better than Prince has to be amazing, right?
Hope y'all are enjoying summer.  It's funny how busy we've been. It's just a different busy! Lots of fun enjoying the sun, swimming, outings to keep the kiddos entertained.  It's hard to keep up with all the necessary stuff.  I've become quite lax with the house and laundry... that's how it should be, right? ;)

Coconut Cream Icebox Cake

 This Coconut Cream Icebox Cake was found over at Seven Spoons. 

I have yet to try it and I'm already in love with it. If coconut is included, I'm instantly in love.

(gosh, I sound like Ashley when she fell deep in love with a guy 

she barely knew, bad-boy-bentley... seriously?)

Beach Inspired Decor Pillows

 I can't believe that I haven't highlighted these fabulous pillows yet.

I adore these additions to Modern Palm. 

ADORE.

They are beach inspired and perfect to freshen up your decor for summer.

OK so the "&" is not so beachy but it is a simple, graphic statement, 

and still has the earthy, canvas look.

Love that they are made of canvas, giving it the look of vintage grain sack or burlap, 

which is right on trend.

Also, I'm loving the bold, graphic, yet exotic look these pillows 

are adding in my home right now...

Clemence Poesy + InStyle + Italy = Fashion Perfection

I am crazy obsessed with this fantastic photo shoot in Portofino of Clemence Poesy. 

I just can get enough of the background scenery, I melt over anything Italian, I swear! 

It could have something to do with a vacation-that-never-happened a few years back...

Mr. D and I had a vacation planned to Italy, and a few weeks before departure,

 we had a wonderful surprise...a pregnancy! 

I had carefully charted what was to be a fabulous Italian tour, 

but I was too sick to go and we had to cancel all plans.  

Since then, I have this weird longing for Italy...

anyway, back to fashion...

I was first introduced to Clemence when she appeared on Gossip Girl. 

She is a beautiful and talented French actress, but now I love her even more... 

This is by far one of my favorite celebrity highlight photo-shoots Instyle has done. 

It is found in the Instyle July issue. 

Love the summer lovin' clothing, style, colors, make-up, hairstyles, scenery--

basically just everything.

I mean seriously... does this outfit not scream "SUMMER RETRO FASHION DREAM!?"

Modern California Beach Home

This outdoor space is so perfect, it almost looks fake. 

I fell in love with this Modern California Beach home when it was 

highlighted in the December/January issue of Coastal Living, 

however, it has been extremely difficult to find photos of it on the web.  

I was excited to finally see just a few photos on Coastal Living, 

although there are a few missing... I'll try to keep looking for them, 

because I really liked the design and style of this home.

I like how beachy this home is without screaming it. 

I like the modern, casual, white &  bright colors.

It also seems quite kid friendly...

I was just saying today that I would decorate differently if kids weren't involved. 

It is a constant issue to try to have practical & functional decor and still maintain great style.

(note: just yesterday I had a lovely framed wallpaper art piece broken 

because the boys were throwing a ball in the main family room... 

yes, Mr. D was a part of the "boys.")

 I was able to spend some quality time with my family in Park City, Utah. 

Luckily it was warm enough to enjoy the beautiful mountains and relax.

Kerri Russell + Elle Decor Magazine

I really loved seeing the amazing renovation of Kerri Russell & husband, Shane Deary, aka: MacGyver. They bought a 1860's brownstone in Brooklyn, NY and completely gutted the place and then created their dream home. The story and photos are highlighted in Elle Decor this month. I liked the calming neutral pallette and I really loved how livable and casual the home is... they did a great job at mixing the high end items with rustic items that her husband hand made from wood reclaimed from things like barns.

That kitchen table is a dream!

Natural, clean and inspiring... deep breath & aaahhh.
